Local Planning

Uttlesford District Council is the local planning authority and makes a decision on most planning applications. Applications from developers who want to build large numbers of houses can currently be sent directly to the government instead, because Uttlesford had so many of its decisions overturned on appeal a couple of years ago. This policy may change eventually though.

The Campaign for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE) and the National Association of Local Councils have jointly produced this guide. It is very useful if you want to comment on a planning application which concerns you.
